GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Lady Pioneer Basketball will have two games this week, being at home on Wednesday (Nov. 20) against Ursuline, before traveling to West Virginia State on Saturday (Nov. 23). The Lady Pioneers split with WVSU in last year's season series.

THE OPPONENTS
URSULINE
2024 Season
The Arrows come into the matchup (0-3), with losses against Quincy, Truman State and MEC member Fairmont State.
Head Coach
Shannon Sword is in her 12th season leading the Ursuline WBB program. In her time with the Arrows, she has amassed GMAC Regular Season champs twice, GMAC Tournament champs in 2015 and reached the NCAA Tournament twice.

Riley Stopp and Madyson Stottsberry lead the team in scoring, both averaging 11.7 points per game with Kamryn Dziak averaging an even 10 a game. Sophia Kline averages 8.3 rebounds a game to lead the arrows while Stopp averages 6.0. Stopp has been a distributor as well, leading the Arrows in assists at 3.0 APG.
WEST VIRGINIA STATE
2024 Season
The Yellow Jackets come into the week with a (3-0) record, defeating West Chester, Shepherd and Central State. WVSU has surpassed 90 points in two of those three games.
Head Coach
Charles Marshall is in his ninth season as HC of the Yellow Jackets. Marshall led WVSU to their first-ever MEC Championship game in 2023-24, where the Yellow Jackets fell but they earned their second-straight NCAA Tournament bid.

WVSU's leading scorer is Stanley Woods and she is the only player averaging double figures with 18 PPG. However, the Yellow Jackets have multiple players averaging over five points a game. Latisha Parris and Baylee Goinsboth average 9.7, Emyah Fortenberry averages 9.3, Emily Anthony is at 8.7 and ZZ Russell is adding 7.7 PPG. Fortneberry leads the Yellow Jackets with 12.0 RPG. Emily Anthony has 14 steals on the year while Russell has 13.
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2024 Season
The Lady Pioneers come into the week with a (3-1, 1-0 MEC) record with wins over Slippery Rock, Point Park and Bluefield State. Their only loss came against nationally ranked Gannon to start the year.

Tynasia Bunting averages 13.5 points per game to lead the team and Dream Cherry is the other double figure scorer at 10.5 PPG. Freshman Ashlyn Riley is scoring 9.8 points a night and Nwando Okigbo is chipping in 9.5 PPG. Okigbo is also leading the team in rebounding with over eight boards a night while Bunting and Riley are both averaging six apiece. The Lady Pioneer defense has been forcing turnovers at a high clip through four games as three Lady Pioneers have double digit steals; Okigbo (11) Bunting (10) and Jade Salters (10).
