MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Glenville State Wrestling team lost their first dual of the 2024-25 season tonight at No. 18 West Virginia. The Division 1, Big 12 member defeated the Pioneers, 35-10.
GSU fell behind early, losing three (133, 141 and 149) of the first five matches to nationally ranked opponents. The blue and white saw an All-American and three NCAA qualifiers as well in those first five matches.
Gaetano DeLeonardis put the Pioneers on the board with a win in the 165-pound match while
Kyle Homet (184) won by decision over the 23
rd ranked wrestler in Division 1, Ian Bush.
Nick Johnson picked up a win at 197 to close out the night for GSU.
