INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Glenville State Wrestling team took 3
rd place out of 43 teams at this weekend's Midwest Classic in Indianapolis. Seven Pioneers placed, including one taking first place.
At 125,
Colton Drousias placed 6
th, winning his first four matches before falling in the semifinals and eventually falling in the 5
th place match.
Gabe Onorato (149 lbs) took 3
rd place, battling back in the consolation bracket following a loss in the quarterfinals.
Gaetano DeLeonardis was 5
th at 165, winning his first four matches before losing and eventually winning his fifth-place match.
Hayden Pummel was impressive all day, winning the Pioneers their first individual championship at the Midwest Classic with a first-place finish in the 174-pound class.
Kyle Homet (184) was a 4
th place finisher, winning six of his eight matches.
Nick Johnson made it all the way to the semifinals before falling, however he was able to win his 3
rd place match in the 197-pound division.
Colby Whitehill (285 lbs) was the final Pioneer to place as he took 8
th.
