Preview: Acrobatics & Tumbling Welcomes Kutztown and Bluefield State for Tri-Meet

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Acrobatics & Tumbling will welcome PSAC foe Kutztown and CIAA member Bluefield State tomorrow (Mar. 13) for a tri-meet at the Waco Center. The Pioneers have never competed against KU or BSU, making this the first meeting between the schools.

THE OPPONENTS 
KUTZTOWN 

The Golden Bears enter (3-1) after defeating Georgian Court and Stevenson in their last two meets. KU is averaging 247.470 per meet with their only defeat coming to #4 Gannon. 

Karah Paull is in her third season leading Kutztown A&T. Paull helped lead the Golden Bears into their program debut in 2022. In the inaugural season, KU went (3-3) and followed that up with a (5-3) record last season. Paull was a standout member of the Fairmont State A&T program, earning MEC Athlete of the Year and NCATA All-American status in 2019. 

Earlier in the year, the Golden Bears set a new program record meet score of 250.430 when they defeated East Stroudsburg to start the season. In their win over Stevenson, Kutztown scored 28.55 out of a 29.70 start value while also taking the compulsory event, acro event, toss event and the tumbling event.  

BLUEFIELD STATE 
The Big Blue come in (0-1) after their last meet against Mars Hill was canceled. BSU opened the year with a loss against West Virginia State.  

Bluefield State is in their inaugural season of competition, mostly performing in exhibition-style meets in 2023. 

THE PIONEERS

The Pioneers are (2-2, 1-2 MEC) as the new week starts, last competing on Mar. 3 when GSU defeated Trine on the road. 

Payten Semenske racked up the honors last week, taking NCATA Specialist of the Week and MEC Athlete of the Week. Savannah Duckworth also garnered national attention, being NCATA Athlete of the Week Honorable Mention. The Pioneers tallied 12 new season-highs at Trine, including a 9.950 in the inversion and synchronized heats and a score of 29.70 out of a possible 30.00 in the pyramid event.
