Preview: Acro & Tumbling Qualifies 11 Events, Set to Face No. 2 Seed Frostburg State at MEC Championship

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Acrobatics & Tumbling heads to Fairmont State tomorrow (Apr. 12) for the 2024 MEC Championship, slated to face the No. 2 seed Frostburg State at 5 p.m. The Pioneers also qualified 11 in the Event Finals, the third most of any school in the MEC.

THE OPPONENT 
FROSTBURG STATE 

The Bobcats enter (5-2, 4-1 MEC) following a 267.670-164.715 victory over West Virginia State on Saturday.  

Katie Nunley is in her fourth year leading the Bobcats A&T program. Last year, the Nunley-led Bobcats captured the MEC regular season and tournament title while also earning the #7 seed in the NCATA National Tournament. She was voted the NCATA National Coach of the Year and the Bobcats won the Open Pyramid National Event as well. She came to FSU after being an assistant coach at Adrian College. 

Frostburg State has scored over 260 in every meet but one this year. They have two losses on the year, only coming against top 10 teams (Gannon & Fairmont State). Three Bobcats have earned MEC Athlete of the Week during the 2024 campaign as well. 

THE PIONEERS 
GLENVILLE STATE 

The Pioneers are (6-3, 4-2 MEC), coming off multiple victories over West Virginia State the past two weeks. GSU and FSU faced off earlier in the year, falling to the Bobcats 265.910-255.390.  

Glenville State has won four meets in a row, not losing since Mar. 13 against Kutztown. Savannah Duckworth was named MEC Athlete of Week after another stellar week for the sophomore. In total, the Pioneers have garnered five weekly awards from the NCATA and the MEC.
