GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State athletes
Natalie Barr and
Zavione Wood have been named Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department has announced.
Barr, a sophomore out of Canvas, W.Va., finished 22
nd (6
th best MEC placement) in a race full of runners from all divisions, including Division I. Barr ran 10 seconds faster (22:16) than she did at last year's race at the West Branch Cross Country Course.
Wood, a transfer running back from Western Kentucky, ran for 103 yards on just 10 carries in Saturday's 14-7 win over UNC Pembroke. The Salem, Va. native averaged 10.3 yards per carry and had a rushing long of 49 yards with two receptions for 11 yards.
