GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Women's Basketball has two conference games this week, starting off with a road trip to Wheeling on Wednesday (Jan. 15) and a home game against West Liberty (Jan. 18) on Saturday to close out the week. The Lady Pioneers have won the last 15 meetings with the Cardinals and the last 18 meetings with the Hilltoppers.

THE OPPONENTS
WHEELING
2024-25 Season
The Cardinals are (7-7) overall and (4-3) in MEC play after snapping their three-game losing streak on Saturday with a 67-52 victory over Frostburg State.
Head Coach
Anna Kowalska is in her third season as Head Coach of the Wheeling Women's Basketball program. Kowalska led the Cardinals to a sixth-place finish and fifth-place finish in the MEC during her first two seasons with the program, winning 18 games in 2023-24 and 14 games in 2022-23.

Kristel Rattasepp leads the team in scoring at 11.1 points per game while shooting 37% from the floor. Rachel Wilson averages 10.6 points while leading the team in rebounding with 8.8 per game. Emilia Sierra Lacosta also scores in double figures with 10.5 and grabs just over four rebounds.
WEST LIBERTY
2024-25 Season
The Hilltoppers are (5-9) overall with a (3-4) record in conference play, coming in having lost their last three matchups. WLU last won on Dec. 14 when they beat West Virginia State by two.
Head Coach
Kyle Cooper is in his eighth season as the leader of the WLU Women's Basketball program. Cooper has won over 100 games on the Hilltop and led the Hilltoppers to the NCAA Tournament in 2019. Cooper is a former assistant at West Liberty, where he helped the program capture an MEC Championship and earn a berth into the NCAA Tournament.

Jenna Riccardo comes in averaging almost 16 points a night, shooting 50% from the field and averaging over seven rebounds per game. Bailee Smith is averaging just under 16 points as well while shooting 39% from behind the three-point line. Karli Anker is also a key piece of the offense, averaging 14 points and has 30 assists on the year.

2024-25 Season
The Lady Pioneers enter (10-4, 5-2 MEC) following an undefeated week with wins over Davis & Elkins and then MEC-leading West Virginia Wesleyan.

The Lady Pioneers are led by Tynasia Bunting with 18.3 points per game, 5.6 rebounds and shooting clips of 35% from beyond the arc and 42% from the field. Nwando Okigbo is averaging just shy of 12 points a game while leading the team in rebounding at 10.1 a game. Dream Cherry has knocked down the most triples on the team with 32 and averages 11.4 points per game. Kenyah Stubbs has come on strong recently, scoring the basketball and averaging almost nine points a game while leading the team in assists.
