WHEELING, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers beat Wheeling, 77-65, earlier tonight to extend their winning streak to three with a home contest on Saturday lingering to finish the week.
The Lady Pioneers controlled the game early, jumping out to an 15-6 lead after the first thanks to three-pointers from Dream Cherry and Ashlyn Riley. The second quarter was also low scoring for both teams, however GSU could not gain on their early lead after both teams traded baskets in the second stanza and the blue and white went into the locker room with a ten-point lead, 28-18.
In the third quarter, the Lady Pioneers took control of the game after Nwando Okigbo had an and one tip-in and Jade Salters connected on a three to push the GSU lead to 17 after three quarters of play. The fourth quarter was high scoring back and forth action, as Wheeling cut the GSU lead to four halfway through the quarter, however Okigbo and Cherry made shots from beyond the arc to put the game out of reach and the Lady Pioneers would put the game on ice at the free-throw line late, pulling out the victory, 77-65.

Rachel Wilson led the Cardinals in scoring with 20 while also pulling down 18 rebounds. Layla Merriweather chipped in 10 points with Kenzie Dalton, Kristel Rattasepp and Hillari Baker all recording eight points in the defeat.
Glenville State
Dream Cherry had her best scoring output of the season as she knocked down three triples and had 22 points. Cherry was also active in the defensive end of the floor as she had three steals to lead the team. Nwando Okigbo also had 22 points and seven rebounds. Jade Salters had 13 points to go along with seven boards and also had an assist.
