BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Glenville State Wrestling team nearly pulled off an upset over Division 1 Buffalo earlier today, falling to the Bulls, 22-19. UB, a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC), came into the dual (2-9) with wins over Sacred Heart and Kent State.
Colton Drousias and
Hunter Ross secured an early lead for the Pioneers with Ross winning by tech fall.
Caleb Brooks, a former Buffalo Bull, won by major decision in the 141-pound class to extend the GSU lead. Buffalo picked up three straight wins in the following weight classes before Glenville State got back on the board when
Hayden Pummel notched a win over Rafael Kanpp. Consecutive weight class victories for the Bulls put it out of reach as
Isaiha Casto majored Robbie Unruh at 285, but it was not enough as Buffalo won, 22-19.
Up Next For The Pioneers
The Pioneers will look to win their second-consecutive conference title at the MEC Championship on the campus of West Liberty. The action will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 1).
