12 Pioneers Earn All-MEC Honors with Five Landing on First Team

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Glenville State Football team had 12 Pioneers receive All-MEC honors, the league announced today. Five earned First Team recognition in Anthony Garrett, Jeremiah King, Tank Gant, Shary Jefferson and Brandon Penn.
 
FIRST TEAM
Anthony Garrett
Garrett led the conference and ranked top 10 in the country in passing yards, throwing for 3,003 yards with a league-leading 29 touchdowns and 273.0 passing yards per game. The Detroit, Mich. native completed 196 passes and also ran for 306 yards and scored twice on the ground. Garrett logged over 200 passing yards in every game with three of 300+ yards through the air. He also had four or more passing TDs three times with two games of five touchdowns.
 
Jeremiah King
King was just one of three backs in the league to rush for over 1,000 yards, as 5-11 running back ranked 1st in the MEC in rushing attempts (227) and was 4th in rushing TDs with 11. He had six games of 100 or more yards on the ground, including a career-high 160 yards against West Liberty. King also had two touchdowns in three different contests and was a legitimate threat out of the backfield, catching 14 passes for 243 yards and three scores.
 
Tank Gant
Gant was one of the best edge rushers in the Mountain East Conference in 2025, totaling 54 total tackles, 7.5 TFLs, 2.0 sacks, seven QB hurries, two forced fumbles and one pass breakup. Gant had at least one TFL in six games this season, reaching 1.5 in games versus Emory & Henry and Millersville.
 
Shary Jefferson
Jefferson was third on the team in tackles with 66 from his linebacker position, adding 5.5 TFL, two QB hurries, one forced fumble and one pass breakup. The Charleston Southern transfer had an astounding 3.5 TFL at Frostburg State and recorded two games of 10+ tackles, including a 14-tackle performance at West Virginia State.
 
Brandon Penn
Penn emerged as one of the league's top defenders this season, leading the Pioneers and ranking 3rd in the MEC with 98 tackles. Penn also had 3.5 TFL, 1.0 sack, two pass breakups, one interception and an impressive four blocked kicks. The Parkersburg, W.Va. native finished with five games of double-digit tackles, with a monstrous 15-tackle game at Millersville that also saw the defensive back have a blocked kick and an interception.
 
SECOND TEAM
Tariq Miller
Miller missed two games early in the season due to injury, but the senior wide receiver was still able to lead the Pioneers and finish 5th in receiving yards with 597 and catch eight touchdown passes, which was fourth-best in the league. Miller had 36 receptions and averaged 65.2 yards per game (3rd MEC). He had 100+ receiving yards in two of the last three contests of the season, including 117 yards and two touchdowns versus West Virginia State.
 
Koraun Perdue
Perdue became one of the better receiving tight ends late in the season, catching three passes for 69 yards and two scores against Concord. In total, the 6-foot-6 TE had 11 catches for 128 yards and three touchdowns.
 
Alex Willis
Willis started all 11 games for the Pioneers at left tackle, helping protect Anthony Garrett to his 3,000-yard passing season and Jeremiah King to his 1,000-yard rushing season. The Pioneer offensive line ranked 2nd in the league for least amount of sacks allowed with 13 as Willis protected Garrett's blindside.
 
Sean Scott
Scott ranked second on the team in tackles with 75 while putting together 6.0 TFL, seven pass breakups, one QB hurry and one forced fumble from his hybrid spot. The linebacker / safety had six games of eight or more tackles, with his best performance coming in the Pioneers upset of 21st ranked Frostburg State, as Scott had 12 tackles and two pass breakups.
 
HONORABLE MENTION
Benjamin Kilgore
Kilgore started all 11 games at right tackle for the Pioneers, being instrumental in the league-leading passing game and 1,000-yard season of Jeremiah King. The former JUCO All-American was one of the top pass protection linemen in the MEC this season.
 
Michael Hogan
Hogan started 10 of 11 games at right guard for the Pioneers, missing one game due to injury. The two-year starter graded out at 90% for the season in pass protection and was vital in the Pioneers 451.9 total yards of offense per game (2nd MEC).
 
Eugene Allen
Allen manned the middle of the Pioneer defensive line all season long, finishing with 42 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 1.0 sack, six QB hurries, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery. Allen had two games of 2.0 TFL, including his five tackles, 2.0 TFL and 1.0 sack against rival Fairmont State.
