GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State athletes
Nwando Okigbo and
Ethan Hardy have been labeled GoMart Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced.
Okigbo, a sophomore out of Anambra, Nigeria, notched a pair of double doubles in the Lady Pioneers (2-0) week. The 6-foot guard averaged 13.0 PPG, 12.5 RPG, 2.0 SPG and 1.0 BPG as the Women's Basketball team defeated No. 15 Fairmont State, 77-74, and Frostburg State, 94-93, in overtime. Okigbo had 11 points and 12 rebounds in the nationally ranked win over the Falcons on Wednesday (Dec. 10) while putting up 15 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and two blocks on 8-of-9 shooting from the free throw line in the Lady Pioneers overtime thriller at Frostburg State.
Hardy, a redshirt senior on the nationally ranked Pioneer Wrestling team, was one of two grapplers to take home an individual championship at the 46
th annual Midwest Classic in Indianapolis over the weekend. The 141-pound wrestler went (6-0), winning all six matches by decision. In his finals match, Hardy came from behind and earned a takedown with one second left to secure his individual title.
