GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Top 10 nationally ranked Glenville State Wrestling will be at the Carolina Clash tomorrow (Dec. 7) in South Carolina as the Pioneers are scheduled to wrestle Newberry, Mount Olive, Coker and Lander.
Glenville State is coming off of a (2-1) day at the Laker Duals in Michigan on Nov. 21, where GSU beat Findlay and No. 21 Grand Valley State but fell to No. 9 St. Cloud State. The 10
th ranked Pioneers will have a pair of nationally ranked opponents tomorrow, starting off with No. 19 Newberry at 9 a.m. After a pair of duals with Mount Olive (10:30 a.m.) and Coker (3 p.m.), the Pioneers will close the day with the host, No. 2 Lander, at 4:30 p.m.
Head coach
Dylan Cottrell is scheduled to bring 19 grapplers to fill up the 10 lineup spots, as early season injures have made the sixth-year leader mix things up each dual. Former West Virginia transfer and returning All-American
Colton Drousias is eying a return this weekend, as the 125-pound Pioneer has not wrestled in 2025-26 due to an off-season injury.
Hayden Pummel (174) and returning All-American
Nick Johnson will be out of the lineup for GSU, but it once again opens up more opportunities for the young Pioneers.
Colby Whitehill, who Coach Cottrell has raved about on the
GoMart Pioneer Coaches Show, picked up a top 5 nationally ranked win his last time out and will man the heavyweight spot the Pioneers. Whitehill also beat a Division I grappler in the Pioneers defeat at West Virginia.
Wrestling will begin at 9 a.m. and will be streaming live on the Peach Belt Conference Network. Due to constraints, the only Pioneer match that will be streamed is their 4:30 p.m. bout with No. 2 Lander.
