WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - The Glenville State Acrobatics & Tumbling team kicked off the 2025 season with a tri-meet against No. 6 Fairmont State and West Liberty. The Pioneers scored 244.560, splitting both matchups as Fairmont State scored 264.885 and West Liberty would score 232.960.
The first event of the evening was the Compulsory Event, which is made of four heats: Acro, Pyramid, Toss and Tumbling. Glenville State earned a score of 34.80 while the Falcons scored 36.00 and the Hilltoppers were handed 33.00 for the opening event.
In the Acro Event, the Pioneers finished in second place with a score of 26.950, behind the Falcons 28.10 and ahead of the Hilltoppers 25.400.
The last event before halftime was the Pyramid Event. The pyramid event looked to be the Pioneers strongest performance of the day as they would score a 9.500 or higher in every pyramid and they received the highest score of the meet in the open pyramid with a 9.850. The Pioneers finished the Pyramid event with 29.000, just missing out on first place as the Falcons scored 29.050 and WLU scored 26.350.
The Toss Event kicked off the second half of the meet as the Pioneers posted a 26.200. The Falcons posted a 27.500 and would increase their lead to 3.7 points. The Hilltoppers produced score of 24.00 as they trailed the Pioneers by 8.2 points with just two events left.
Next up was the Tumbling Event. The Pioneers gained a score of 45.550 points. The Hilltoppers scored 47.500 while the Falcons managed to increase their lead over the Pioneers and Hilltoppers in this event by posting a 51.275
The last event of the evening was Team Event. With a score of 82.060, the Pioneers secured their victory over West Liberty, who scored a 76.710. The Falcons secured their victory over the Pioneers and Hilltoppers with a score of 92.960.
