Preview: Seeding on the Line for Women's Basketball in Final Week of Regular Season

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Lady Pioneer Basketball enters the last week of the regular season with two road contests first a game against Charleston on Wednesday and a game against Concord on Saturday. The Lady Pioneers are currently tied for fifth in the Mountain East conference standings.

THE OPPONENTS
CHARLESTON
2024-25 Season
Currently (15-11) overall and (10-8) in league play, the Golden eagles are tied with the Lady Pioneers for fifth in the MEC standings.

Head Coach
Bubby Johnson is in his first season as HC of the Golden Eagles. Johnson was previously an assistant at Presbyterian, helping lead them to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2024. Johnson was an assistant with UC from 2020-22 under Tianni Kelly, where in 2021 the Golden Eagles reached the school's first-ever Elite Eight.

UC is led by Paris Stokes as she is averaging 12.1 points per game and 4.6 rebounds. Jamia Nesmith is averaging 11.8 PPG while shooting 51% from the floor and Harper Annarino is scoring 10.4 points and shooting 34% from beyond the arc.

CONCORD
2024-25 Season
The Mountain Lions enter (14-12, 10-8 MEC) as they are also tied with the Lady Pioneers for fifth in the MEC.

Head Coach
Tesla Southcott is in her third season at the helm for Concord. Southcott holds a career .500 coaching record (38-38), winning 17 games with a 6th place finish in the MEC last season. She previously served as an assistant coach for the Mountain Lions under Kenny Osborne.

Quick Look at The Mountain Lions
Concord is led by Abbie Smith, who is averaging 17 PPG and 10.3 rebounds per night. Former Lady Pioneer Skylar Davidson is averaging 11.3 points while shooting 40% from the field. Imani Hickman averages 11.4 PPG and former Lady Pioneer Sanalya Morris also averages double figures with 10.4 PPG to round out the Concord scoring.

2024-25 Season
The Lady Pioneers come in (16-10, 10-8 MEC) after splitting contests last week against West Liberty and Wheeling.

The Lady Pioneers are led by Tynasia Bunting as she averages 15 points per night and is shooting 44% from the floor this year. Nwando Okigbo is scoring 12.3 points per game and is averaging 10.7 rebounds per game. Dream Cherry is averaging 11.7 points while making 58 threes on the season. Jade Salters is scoring 7.9 PPG and leads the team in steals with 53. Ashlyn Riley is scoring 7.3 points per game and has made 37 shots from beyond the arc this season while totaling 42 steals.
