Lady Pioneers Fall in Final Game of Regular Season at Concord

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Glenville State Women's Basketball team fell on the road at Concord earlier today, 99-75, to conclude the regular season. The Lady Pioneers now await their seeding and opponent for the 2025 MEC Basketball Tournament next week.

A back-and-forth opening quarter was full of offense, ending in a quick 6-0 run by the Lady Pioneers with three-pointers by Ashlyn Riley and Stevi Yancy to make it 31-27 GSU. In the second quarter, Glenville State grew their lead to as much as eight but a 17-4 run in the final 4:36 of the half allowed the Mountain Lions to take a 57-49 lead into the locker room.

The third quarter was also tightly contested but Concord outscored the Lady Pioneers by four in the quarter to extend their advantage to 12 at 75-63. CU pulled away in the fourth quarter as the GSU offense stayed stagnant, eventually ending at 99-75 in favor of the Mountain Lions.

Three Mountain Lions finished with 20 or more points, led by Abbie Smith's 23 points and 15 rebounds. Former Lady Pioneers Skylar Davidson and Sanaiya Morris both dropped 20 points as Davidson grabbed seven boards and Morris had nine rebounds and six assists.

Glenville State
Ashlyn Riley led the way for the Lady Pioneers, scoring 18 points with eight boards. Stevi Yancy (13 points) and Tynasia Bunting (10 points) were also in double figures. Nwando Okigbo flirted with a double-double, notching nine points and 14 rebounds in the defeat.

The Lady Pioneers will be back in action next week for the MEC Tournament with seedings being finalized tonight.
