HONOLULU, Hawaii - The Glenville State Acrobatics & Tumbling team traveled across the country to take a win against Hawaii Pacific, 253.840-249.255, to increase their record to (4-2, 3-1 MEC). The Pioneers set another season high tonight with 253.840 total points.
The first event of the evening was the Compulsory Event. The Pioneers started off by scoring 36.300 while the Sharks scored 36.900 to take the lead by less than a point.
In the Acro Event, the Pioneers had a solid performance, scoring a 9.2 or higher in every heat and getting a total score of 28.550. The Sharks got awarded a score of 27.500, allowing the Pioneers to take the lead after the second event.
The last event before halftime was the Pyramid Event. GSU continued to flourish in this event as they have done all season, scoring 29 out of 30 possible points. The Sharks scored 27.950 as the Pioneers increased their advantage at the half.
The Toss Event kicked off the second half of the meet. In this event, the Pioneers barely edged out the Sharks, scoring 27.800 compared to the Sharks 27.250.
Next up was the Tumbling Event. The Pioneers have struggled in this event but gave their best performance of the season in the event as they continue to show improvement through the season, notching 48.450. The Sharks, however, would have a stronger performance in this event, scoring 52.475 and giving them a lead going into the final event of the night.
The last event of the evening was Team Event. The Pioneers, needing a great performance, were able to put up a 83.740, which would be six points better than the Sharks 77.180. The Pioneers were able to persevere in the Pacific, winning 253.840-249.255.
