INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Glenville State Wrestling team set a program record with four All-Americans and placed 12th at the NCAA DII Wrestling Championships as Nick Johnson, Colton Drousias, Gabe Onorato and Kyle Homet all earned All-American status.Â
ALL-AMERICANS
Nick Johnson was the highest placing Pioneer with a fifth-place finish at 197 pounds. Johnson won his first two matches on Friday to reach the semifinals. Johnson would lose to eventual national champion Derek Blubaugh in the semis before capping off his 2024-25 campaign with a win in the 5th place match.
Colton Drousias (125) captured the first pinfall of the Championships in the preliminary round but fell in the first round to move to the consolation bracket. He won consecutive matches to earn All-American status as the junior took 8th place.
Gabe Onorato (149) won consecutive matches in the consolation bracket after falling in his first match of the Championships. Those two victories awarded Onorato All-American status with the Drexel transfer ending the weekend at 8th place.
Kyle Homet (184) started the weekend with a major decision but he fell to eventual national champion Ty McGeary in the quarterfinal round, moving Homet to the consolation bracket. Homet won two of his next three matches to be named an All-American and 7th place.
OTHER PIONEER PERFORMANCES
Isaiha Casto was knocked out early following back-to-back defeats in the preliminary rounds. Returning All-American Gaetano DeLeonardis won his opening match but would fall in his next two matches to be eliminated. The No. 1 seed at 174 pounds, Hayden Pummel, suffered an injury in his opening round match and would be forced to medically forfeit his next match, ending the season for the talented Northern Illinois transfer.

The Pioneers have officially wrapped up their 2024-25 campaign, setting program records and making history along the way. The Pioneers accomplished:
- Second-consecutive MEC Championship
- First-ever NCAA DII Super Region 3 Championship
- Six individual MEC Champions
- Two individual Super Region 3 Champions
- Seven National Qualifiers
- Four All-Americans
- Reached as high as No. 2 in the NWCA National Team Rankings
