Pioneers Capture Second-Straight Road Win with Victory at WVSU

INSTITUTE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Acrobatics & Tumbling team picked up yet another road win against West Virginia State last night (Mar. 20), 250.865-207.040, to increase their record to (5-2, 4-1 MEC).

The Pioneers set the tone early in the Compulsory Event, scoring 34.65 compared to the Yellow Jackets 26.95. This would give the Pioneers a 7.70 advantage heading into the next event.

In the Acro Event, the Pioneers scored 27.05 out of their 29.85 possible points while the Yellow Jackets were awarded 22.60 points, allowing the Pioneers to increase their lead over the Yellow Jackets.

The last event before halftime was the Pyramid Event. The Pioneers continued their dominance in this event as they have done all year, scoring a 9.55 or higher in all three heats to bring their total of the event to 29.25. The Yellow Jackets would earn 23.25 as the Pioneers pulled away even more.

The Toss Event kicked off the second half of the meet. In this event the Pioneers earned a score of 27.25 and the Yellow Jackets got a score of 23.25.

Next up was the Tumbling Event. The Pioneers continued once again to show improvements in this event as they put up a new high in the open pass, scoring an 8.325. Their total for this event was 48.375, which was 0.075 points away from tying their season high. The Yellow Jackets were presented a 41.200 in this event.

The last event of the evening was the Team Event. The Pioneers, while already having the win in the bag, would score 84.29 points while the Yellow Jackets, after having to rework their team event due to an injury, scored 70.44, giving the Pioneers another conference win.

The Pioneers will travel to Kutztown to compete against the Golden Bears on March 28th at 6:00 p.m.
