Acro & Tumbling Notches Fifth MEC Win, Knocks off Kutztown on the Road

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Glenville State Acrobatics & Tumbling team came out on top in a down to the wire meet against Kutztown last night, winning 237.540-233.595. The 13th nationally ranked Pioneers increase their record to (6-2, 5-1 MEC).

The first event of the evening was the Compulsory Event which is made of four heats: Acro, Pyramid, Toss, and Tumbling. The Pioneers would earn a total event score of 33.300, while the Golden Bears would take the early lead after being awarded a score of 34.350

In the Acro Event, the Pioneers started to cut away at their deficit after barely scraping by the Golden Bears in the event. The Pioneers scored 27.45 while the Golden Bears scored 27.40.

The last event before halftime was the Pyramid Event. The Pioneers looked to use their best event to trim away even more as they earned a score of 29.10 compared to the Golden Bears 28.70.

The Toss Event kicked off the second half of the meet. In this event, the Pioneers finally took their first lead after scoring 25.55, which would be 1.65 points more than the Golden Bears' 23.90.

Next up was the Tumbling Event. The Pioneers would look to stay in the lead as they barely outscored the Golden Bears in this event as they were awarded 45.300 and the Golden Bears were awarded 45.225.

The last event of the evening was Team Event. This event would be the determining factor in who would walk away with the win. The Pioneers went first, scoring 76.84. The Golden Bear would go next, needing a strong performance to take the win but they scored 74.020, allowing the Pioneers to travel back to Glenville with another win under their belt and continue their momentum going into their final meet before competing at the Mountain East Conference Tournament.

The Pioneers will host Bluefield State for their final regular season meet of the year on April 5th at 1 p.m. for senior day.
