Pioneers Score Season-High in Loss to Limestone

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Acrobatics & Tumbling team took their second loss of the season against Limestone last night, 261.285 – 251.615. While the Pioneers lost, they did set a new season high in points with 251.615.

The first event of the evening was the Compulsory Event which is made of four heats: Acro, Pyramid, Toss, and Tumbling. The Pioneers started off the meet with a score of 36.10. The Saints would take the lead after scoring 37.35.

In the Acro Event, the Pioneers earned a score of 28.10, while the Saints were awarded a 27.55. The Pioneers were able to lessen their deficit against the Saints in this event as they looked to use their strongest event to take the lead.

The last event before halftime was the Pyramid Event. The Saints went first in this event and scored 28.75. The Pioneers have flourished in the Pyramid event and that continued last night as they earned a score of 29.35 out of 30 possible points. This performance decreased their defict even more as they went into the half down 93.65-93.55.

The Toss Event kicked off the second half of the meet. The Saints scored 27.25, while the Pioneers would finally take the lead after scoring 27.80.

Next up was the Tumbling Event. The Saints would go first and would give a strong performance, scoring 53.675. The tumbling event has been the Pioneers weak point so far this season, but they had one of their strongest performances in the event, scoring 47.775. The Saints took the lead back heading into the final event.

The last event of the evening was Team Event. The Pioneers needed a strong performance to take the win over Limestone. The Saints were able to score 86.71, putting the pressure on the Pioneers. The Pioneers scored 82.49 in their team event and weren't able to pull off the victory as they would fall to the Saints, 261.285-251.615.

The Pioneers will travel to Hawaii Pacific University to compete in the Shark Tank next Tuesday (Mar. 11) at 12 a.m. eastern time.
