BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Glenville State Acrobatics & Tumbling took home two major conference awards this evening, the league announced. Senior base
Payten Semenske was named MEC Specialist of the Year while rookie base / tumbler
Aubrey Ward earned MEC Freshman of the Year.
Semenske, who hails from Statesville, N.C., was tabbed MEC Specialist of the Year after two MEC Specialist of the Week honors and two NCATA Specialist of the Week Honorable Mention nods during the 2025 season. Semenske was an All-MEC First Team selection in 2024 as well. The South Iredell HS product has been key for the 13
th ranked and (7-2, 5-1 MEC) Pioneers this season, serving as the base and mid for many of GSU's highest scoring events, including the pyramid where the Pioneers tallied their first 10.0 since the 2019 season.
Ward, a native of Huntington, W.Va., enjoyed multiple nods from the NCATA with National Freshman of the Week Honorable Mention honors this season. The Spring Valley HS product was thrown into the mix early, helping increase start values and production in the tosses, pyramids and the team event. Ward was also a member of the perfect 10.0 at Kutztown and has been vital in contributing to their 9.50+ finishes in pyramids all season long.
