GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Acrobatics & Tumbling will open the 2026 season inside the Waco Center tomorrow (Feb. 12) in a tri-meet against Bluefield State and Wheeling.

THE OPPONENTS
BLUEFIELD STATE
The Big Blue are coming off of a (1-5) season in 2025, as their lone win came against Missouri State early in the campaign.
Bluefield State made the trip to Glenville last April, where the Pioneers defeated BSU, 261.190-184.100. The Big Blue had their highest point total come against King in a loss, as they scored 199.525 in the defeat. Bluefield State scored a 180 or more in three of their six meets in 2025.
WHEELING
The Cardinals went (2-6, 1-5 MEC) in their first full season of competition last year, with their two wins coming against West Virginia State and Bluefield State.
WU had their season-high come against WVSU, where they scored 215.255. After a slow start to the season, Wheeling scored 200 or more in three of their last four matchups. Coming into the new year, Wheeling is picked to finish 6
th in the MEC Preseason Coaches Poll.
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
The Pioneers had the best season in program history in 2025, going (8-3) overall with a (5-1) league mark. GSU beat Frostburg State in the MEC Tournament Semifinals to reach the MEC Championship meet against number one seeded Fairmont State.
Glenville State captured four MEC Event Championships, had four Pioneers earn All-MEC and
Aubrey Ward was the MEC Freshman of the Year and NCATA DII Freshman of the Year. In addition to her All-MEC First Team nod,
Savannah Duckworth was an NCATA All-American.
GSU was picked to finish 2
nd in the MEC Preseason Coaches Poll, earning one first-place vote and being just five points behind the favorite, Fairmont State. Head Coach
Taylor Broadwater lost a pair of All-MEC performers to graduation, but the fourth-year leader returned a bulk of her production. Ward, Duckworth and 2025 All-MEC Second Team selection
Emilia Underwood headline the returning core, but 13 Pioneers are back in the blue and white in total. Broadwater added in the off-season as well, bringing in one transfer and four freshmen to round out the 2026 group.
