GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The 12
th ranked Glenville State Acrobatics & Tumbling team dominated in their opening meet of the 2026 season Thursday (Feb. 12) night, scoring 254.255 against Bluefield State (112.125) and Wheeling (190.560) to secure their first wins of the new campaign.
It was a rout of the Big Blue and Cardinals from the beginning, as GSU scored a 34.85 in the compulsory event while BSU scored just a 17.70 and WU a 27.70. In the acro event, the blue and white scored a 26.80 out of a possible 29.85, to increase their lead even more. Right before halftime, Glenviile State notched scores of 9.65, 9.55 and 9.70 in the pyramid event to jump out to a 163.705 (Glenville State) – 123.760 (Wheeling) – 58.025 (Bluefield State) lead.
After the intermission, the Pioneers were dominant in the toss event, scoring 26.25 out of a possible 28.70, which was 7+ points better than Bluefield State and nearly 11 points higher than Wheeling. As the meet started to dwindle down, GSU notched two scores above a 9.5 in the tumbling event, including a 9.775 in the open pass. In the team event, the blue and white scored an 85.58 to finalize their score of 254.255 and capture their first wins of the 2026 season.
