Preview: Women's Basketball Quest for MEC Regular Season Title Continues

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Lady Pioneer Basketball is seeking a bounce-back week against MEC foes West Liberty and Wheeling as their quest for a Mountain East Conference regular season championship continues.

WEST LIBERTY
2025-26 Season
The Hilltoppers are (8-16) overall and (5-12) in league play but are coming off an impressive 13-point victory against Fairmont State.

The Hilltoppers are led by Reagen Vinskovich's 16.8 PPG while Anna Lucarelli (15.5) and Olivia Davis (13.9) are both in double figures each night out. Bailee Smith was averaging 28.3 PPG before an injury sidelined her. Ana-Isabel Ansersson chips in with nine points per game and Jameka Brungard adds 8.3 PPG for the Hilltoppers.

WHEELING
2025-26 Season
The Cardinals enter the week at (13-11) and (8-8) in conference play, splitting last week's games with Fairmont State (L, 68-60) and Frostburg State (W, 57-48).

Kenzie Dalton is one the league's top scorers and leads the team at 16.5 PPG and rebounds at 7.3 per game from her guard position. Emilia Sierra Lacosta (13.0), Layla Merriweather (10.8), Graci Fairman (9.1), and Emma Reynolds (8.9) are key contributors for the Cardinals offensively as well.

2025-26 Season
Coming off a road loss at West Virginia Wesleyan, Emily Stoller's team is looking to maintain their lead in the Mountain East standings with two wins this week and is looking for revenge from the January defeat suffered to Wheeling.

Glenville State is led by Carine Pinkney, as she's scoring just over fifteen points a game at 15.1, while leading the team in minutes played, steals, and field goal percentage. Nwando Okigbo scores 11.3 points per game while averaging 7.5 rebounds to lead the team. Khalia Bryant averages just under ten points at 9.9 and is shooting the ball at a 52% clip from the floor, and the teams assist leader is Stevi Yancy with 54 on the year while scoring 8.4 points per game and recording 40 steals. Wonder Nkoyock is having a strong second half of the season, averaging over seven points per game and is shooting 30% from beyond the arc.
