GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The No. 12 ranked Glenville State Acrobatics & Tumbling team cruised past Kutztown and West Virginia State on Saturday (Feb. 21) in the Pioneers second-consecutive tri-meet at home. GSU scored 253.105 while the Golden Bears (220.155) and West Virginia State (102.600) were no match for the Pioneers.
After securing scores of 9.15 or better in the eight of the first 10 heats of the meet, the Pioneers held a score of 160.455 at halftime while KU had 141.005 and West Virginia State notched 47.20. The Pioneers used a 9.75 in both the acro heat of the compulsory event and the inversion heat of the pyramid event to push their halftime advantage to over 19 points.
A pair of 9.25s out of the break helped grow that advantage, and scores of 9.3 or better three times in the tumbling event made the lead insurmountable for the competition. An 81.88 in the team event for GSU put the finishing touches on the blue and white's 253.105 final score.
