Pinkney Reaches Double Figures for 13th-Straight Game as Lady Pioneers Comeback at Point Park

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Third quarter scoring led the Glenville State Women's Basketball team to another road conference victory tonight (Feb. 4), as the Lady Pioneers defeated Point Park, 82-68, in Pittsburgh. GSU improved to (17-3, 12-2 MEC) on the season.

1st Half
In a back-and-forth first twenty minutes of play, neither team could build an advantage on the scoreboard, as the Lady Pioneers took an early 8-2 lead after a Carine Pinkney score, and a Stevi Yancy three-pointer made the score 11-7, but PPU would score the final basket of the first quarter to take a 19-18 lead. In the second stanza, Point Park extended their lead to 12 early in the quarter, but back-to-back threes from Payton James, and a layup from Keanti Thompson cut the lead to just one before a free throw with no time left from Nwando Okigbo gave the Lady Pioneers a one-point lead to take into the second half.

2nd Half
In the third, GSU took control of the game by outscoring PPU by 12, as a shot from beyond the arc from Yancy started the scoring and scores from Wonder Nkoyock and Khalia Bryant pushed the Glenville State lead to 13. In the fourth quarter and final quarter, Glenville State just had to sit on a double-digit lead to secure a conference road victory. The lead swelled to as many as 17 in the quarter, and would end in a 14-point victory, 82-68.
