GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The No. 11 Glenville State Acrobatics & Tumbling team will travel to West Liberty on Sunday (Mar. 29) to close out the regular season. The meet is scheduled for 3 p.m. inside the Academic, Sports, and Recreation Complex (ASRC).

THE OPPONENT
WEST LIBERTY
West Liberty enters the meet with a (3-6, 2-3 MEC) record following a dominant 219.545-168.595 victory over Bluefield State in its most recent matchup. The Hilltoppers controlled the meet from the opening event and steadily increased their lead throughout.
West Liberty set the tone early in the Compulsory Event. Strong performances in the Pyramid (9.20) and Toss (8.70) heats gave the Hilltoppers a quick cushion at 33.00-20.35. They continued to build momentum in the Acro and Pyramid events, recording scores of 21.85 and 26.35 respectively, highlighted by a score of 9.35 in the open pyramid. The Hilltoppers maintained their consistency in the second half, adding 22.20 points in the Toss Event and 43.775 in the Tumbling Event. They capped off the meet with a 72.37 in the Team Event to secure the victory.
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
Glenville State enters the weekend with a (5-2, 4-1 MEC) record following a loss to No. 6 Fairmont State in their last meet at home
The Pioneers opened that meet with solid scores in the Compulsory Event, but a strong Fairmont State took the event 37.10-36.35. The Pioneers responded with an impressive showing in the Acro Event, winning all three heats with scores above 9, including a 9.80 in the 7-Element heat to take a narrow lead. Glenville continued to perform consistently in the Pyramid Event, posting scores of 9.65 or better in each heat to keep a close lead at 93.75-93.05 heading into halftime. After the break, Fairmont State began to gain separation in the Toss and Tumbling events. Glenville still turned in strong performances, highlighted by a 9.80 in the 450 Salto Toss and a 9.80 in the Open Pass during the Tumbling Event. The Pioneers fought until the final second, but could not close the gap after the Falcons scored 9.50 or more in all three Toss heats and posted impressive scores of 9.875, 9.750, and 9.775 in the final three Tumbling heats.
The Pioneers will look to bounce back and finish the regular season on a strong note as they head into postseason competition.
