Preview: Undefeated and 12th Ranked Acrobatics & Tumbling Makes Trip to Frostburg State

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Acrobatics & Tumbling travels to Frostburg State Thursday (Mar. 5) for their first dual meet of the season with the Bobcats in Bobcat Arena. This also marks the first time in 2026 that the Pioneers have competed on the road.

THE OPPONENT 
FROSTBURG STATE 
The Bobcats will enter the meet with a record of (3-0, 2-0 MEC), coming off a tri-meet sweep against Kutztown and West Liberty. Strong pyramid performances gave Frostburg the edge, highlighted by a 9.65 in the Compulsory Pyramid and scores above 9 in all three Pyramid Event heats — the only team of the three to accomplish this. Combined with other performances in the remaining events, Frostburg finished with a final meet score of 232.325, with Kutztown ending at 221.190, and West Liberty at 208.040.

Bobcat seniors Alicia Mansaray and Eleanor Ohngren were awarded the MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Athlete and Specialist of the Week (March 1) for their contributions in the tri-meet.  

THE PIONEERS 
GLENVILLE STATE 
The Pioneers also enjoyed a tri-meet sweep in their last matchup, earning convincing wins over both Kutztown and West Virginia State on February 21st. 

MEC Athlete of the Week (Feb. 23), Savannah Duckworth and Specialist of the Week (Feb. 23), Emilia Underwood, along with other impressive performances led to a final Pioneer score of 253.105. The Golden Bears ended with 220.155 and West Virginia State with 102.600.  With the win, Glenville State improved their record to (4-0, 3-0 MEC). 

The last meeting between the Pioneers and the Bobcats came in the 2025 MEC Acrobatics and Tumbling Championship Semifinal. It was a close, hard-fought match that ended in a 252.815-249.005 victory for the Pioneers.
