Preview: No. 1 Seeded Lady Pioneers and 9th Seeded West Liberty to Battle in MEC Tournament Quarterfinals

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Lady Pioneer Basketball will face West Liberty in the Quarterfinal round of Mountain East Conference Tournament Thursday (Mar. 5) evening at 6 p.m. Glenville State swept the regular season series against West Liberty, beating them in January, 100-89, and again in February, 102-95.

2025-26 Season
In the regular season, the Hilltoppers finished (10-18) and (6-14) in conference play, earning the ninth seed in this week's MEC Tournament. They beat West Virginia State on Wednesday (Mar. 4) afternoon to advance to the Quarterfinals against the Lady Pioneers.

The Hilltoppers are led by Reagen Vinskovich, who averaged 19.2 points per game in conference play, while also pulling down 9.1 rebounds per game. Anna Lucarelli averages 15.2 points and 6.3 rebounds, and Olivia Baker is the final double-digit scorer at 14.8 while shooting 39% from three-point range.

2025-26 Season
Earning the number one seed with a (22-5) overall record and (16-4) mark in Mountain East play, Glenville State comes in having won their final two games as third-year head coach Emily Stoller's squad is looking to cut down the nets in Wheeling after falling in the Championship game just a year ago.

Quick Look at The Lady Pioneers
First team All-Conference guard Carine Pinkney led the team in scoring at 15.3, shooting 52% from the floor, totaling 94 rebounds, 55 assists, and 51 steals this year. Second Team All-Conference selections Nwando Okigbo and Khalia Bryant are the next two leading scorers as Okigbo averaged 11.3 points per game, and eight rebounds, while also totaling 30 blocks. Bryant averaged 9.5 points while shooting 51% from the field and averaging 6.5 rebounds and recording 35 steals and seven blocks. Point guard Stevi Yancy scores 8.8 points per game and leads the team in assists with 69 and also had 50 steals on the year.
