GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Football is welcoming Millersville into the new Ike & Sue Morris Stadium tomorrow (Sept. 3) night for the Pioneers first game of their five-game home schedule. GSU and the Marauders will start at 6 p.m. with a special ceremony scheduled 15 minutes prior to kickoff. Tomorrow's contest is presented by Waco Oil & Gas, Flying W Plastics and Foodland, proud sponsors of Glenville State Athletics and Pioneer Football!

THE OPPONENT
MILLERSVILLE
2025 Season
The Marauders went (0-11) overall in 2025, leading to the program deciding to part ways with head coach J.C. Morgan during the season. Millersville won just one game in 2024 and have not been victorious since November 16, 2024.
 
Head Coach
Drew Folmar, a member of the Millersville Hall of Fame following a legendary career at quarterback, returned to MU over the winter. He most recently served as the offensive coordinator at Division 1 FCS Bucknell for eight seasons, and was the OC at Elon prior to that, helping lead the Phoenix to three NCAA Playoff appearances.
 
Marauders Offense
Tommy Hunsicker is projected to start at QB for MU after spending much of last as a backup with three starts. Hunsicker completed nearly 52% of his passes for 978 yards and five TDs. Hunsicker will be accompanied by last year's second-leading rusher, Mekhi Ashby, in the backfield. Colin Hasting, who led the team in receiving last year with 501 yards and three touchdowns, looks to once again be the number one target.
 
It's an extremely young group up front, with three freshman and a sophomore projected to make starts. Millersville's biggest offensive lineman is 288 pounds, with the average weight being just over 275 pounds.
 
Marauders Defense
The Marauders bring back their star linebacker Bryce Beutler, after the 5-foot-11, 230-pound defensive signal caller totaled over 100 tackles and earned All-PSAC honors. The defensive line is sees a mix of returners and newcomers, with veteran Mox Hostetter leading the frontline after totaling 49 tackles and 4.5 TFLs a year ago. Kai Stiansen has been a rover for the black & gold's defense, notching almost 70 tackles and two interceptions in 2025.
 
The defensive back room has plenty of experience, with a senior and a fifth-year set to start in cornerback Carsone Trone and safety Nick Romano. Sophomores Antonio Johnson and Tyson Capers combined for 12 games played a season ago, so the underclassman have gotten vital college experience.
 
Marauders Special Teams
Charleston transfer Gryffin Mitstifer is back at Millersville after leaving the program following the '24 season, and will take over kicking duties. Roger Staron will be the punter for the Marauders.
 
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2026 Season
The Pioneers opened the new year at Elon last Thursday (Aug. 27), falling 42-7 to the Phoenix on the road. Glenville State finished the 2025 season (6-5) overall and (5-3) in MEC play with a third place finish. GSU is now under the direction of new head coach Jake Casteel.
 
Pioneers Offense
Southeast Missouri State transfer QB JD Sherrod started his Pioneer career completing 14 passes for 85 yards and a touchdown. The ground game was held to just 50 yards on 20 attempts, with Amir Simmons netting just 13 yards on six carries. UTEP import Caden Harris caught six passes for 41 yards while freshman Kyree Bunny had three catches for 29 yards and a score. Five other Pioneers closed the night with a reception.
 
Pioneers Defense
Former All-MEC Second Team selection and South Dakota transfer Jacob Clark headlined the GSU defense with eight tackles and one sack in the season opener. Navy transfer Knowel Smith looked good from his safety spot, notching seven tackles with six being solo. Idaho State transfer Khaliq Johnson and William & Mary transfer Tyson Garrett both had six tackles while former in-state stars Wesley Brown Jr. and Maddox Gillespie logged four tackles and a TFL each.
 
Pioneers Special Teams
Francisco Gamboa averaged nearly 50 yards per kickoff and redshirt freshman Braiden Haught was busy at punter, legging out 13 punts for 510 yards at an average of just under 40 yards per punt. Caden Harris pieced together a trio of nice returns on kickoff, averaging 23 yards per return.
