In 2023, the Pioneers defense ranked 5th in the Mountain East Conference in scoring defense at 24.3 points per game. Hill's defense racked up 17 interceptions and recovered 10 fumbles, which both were tied for second-best in the league. Five Pioneers earned All-MEC honors, including Seth Arnold's First Team recognition.
The 2022 season saw GSU’s defense rank third in the Mountain East Conference, only giving up 24.7 points per game. While the Pioneers had only 17 sacks, Coach Hill’s pass defense forced 17 interceptions. Glenville’s 17 interceptions were second in the MEC. With the defense’s success during the 2022 campaign, four Pioneers received All-MEC Honors.
During the 2021 season, under Hill, the Pioneers held opponents to an average of 24.3 points per contest and 1,342 rushing yards. Against the Pioneers, opponents only completed 59% of passing attempts and only converted on 35.4% of third down possession
