Isaac Johnson

Isaac Johnson is in his third season as an Assistant Coach with the Glenville State Men's and Women's Track & Field program in 2026-27. Johnson serves as the Throws Coach.

Johnson coached Casey Mahoney to a pair of second-place finishes in the shot put at both conference championships as well as second place in outdoor discus at MECs. Will Jackson broke the school records in hammer throw and discus along with adding a Second Team finish in the hammer and a USTFCCCA All-Region selection. During the indoor season, Addy Cottrill broke the weight throw school record while Janae Scott and Macy Hilvers adding the second and third best in school history. Scott was the highlight of the 2026-27 season, winning her fifth and sixth MEC titles in the shot put, a conference title in the discus and a runner-up nod in the hammer. Scott was a two-time All-American in the shot put, becoming the first-ever female in the indoor and the first-ever Pioneer in the outdoor. She also holds the school record for shot put, hammer and discus in the outdoor. 

In his first season on the staff, Johnson coached Janae Scott to USTFCCCA All-Region status and an MEC Championship during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Charlie Bauman was an All-Conference performer during the indoor (3rd place) and outdoor (2nd place) seasons.

Johnson had a successful collegiate career at nearby West Virginia Wesleyan College, finishing in the top eight in seven MEC Championships. Prior to WVWC, he attended Buckhannon-Upshur High School where he competed in the AAA State Championship Meet multiple times.

The Buckhannon, W.Va. native graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan with a B.S. in Mathematics in 2017 and got his M.A. in Mathematics at the University of Louisville in 2019.
