Duane Chapman enters his 10th season as the Head Coach of the Glenville State Boxing program in 2025-26.

GSU Boxing won three bouts at the War in the Waco IX, headlined by Wellington Lowe's knockout in the second round. Aaron O'Connor advanced to the Golden Gloves National Tournament, capping off another successful season for Chapman's squad.

Chapman's boxing squad once again had a great War in the Waco, winning two of the three bouts fought. Aaron O'Connor won his second National Championship while Payton Packer was a National Runner-Up in his respective weight class.

In 2022, GSU's boxing program reached new heights becoming the newest member of the United State intercollegiate Boxing Association (USIBA). The Pioneers also continued to build upon the success of the “War in the Waco” with “War in the Waco VII”.

In 2018, Duane helped Francois Scarboro Jr. qualify for the National Golden Gloves Championship, as he won the 141-pound weight class by winning the  Tri-State Golden Gloves Championship.

Scarboro Jr. then took the Bronze Medal at Golden Gloves National Championship in May 2018.

Chapman has been a part of the Boxing Club at GSU for several years. “I believe that Duane will do a great job; he has been around the sport for his entire life,” Lazenby said. Chapman is also an Associate Professor of Art at GSU where he has taught since 1997.

During his time as the boxing coach at GSU he has helped the Pioneers host two boxing events, the "War in the Waco" and the “War in the Waco II" as well as helped Francois Fernandez Scarboro Jr. win the ERBC (Eastern Region Boxing Championship) 141 Open Class Championship by TKO.
