J.R. Dodson

J.R. Dodson is in his fifth season as the Head Coach of the Glenville State Women’s Soccer program in 2025-26. 

The 2024 Lady Pioneers once again set a new school record for wins, going (7-9-2) overall and (4-9-2) in league play. It was also the best start to a season in school history, opening the season at (3-1) in their first four games. Dodson coached two All-Conference performers in Mackenzie Hendricks and Marcelle Stoller as the duo secured All-MEC Honorable Mention. 

In 2023, the Lady Pioneers set a new school record for wins, posting five wins during the campaign. The Lady Pioneers also earned a trip to the Mountain East Conference Tournament for the first time in school history. Dodson lead two players to all conference honors. Merel Smets was named to the 2nd team, and Aitana Viejo was named honorable mention and to the MEC All-Freshman team. 
 
Under Dodson's direction in 2022, sophomore Merel Smets scored another four goals. With her doubling her career total ,she became the program’s all-time leading goal scorer.  
 
J. R. Dodson is a native West Virginian with a passion for soccer.  Combining this passion with over 15 years of coaching experience and a Master’s in Coaching from West Virginia University, Coach Dodson brings a unique perspective to Glenville State Women’s Soccer Program. He believes strongly in the value of team and focuses on individual education and skill development while maintaining team accountability and a strong positive culture. 
 
In his first year as head coach, Dodson led the Glenville State Women’s Soccer program to its most successful season to date. The Lady Pioneers finished the 2021 campaign with a 4-14 record. This marked the most wins in the history of the young program. The Pioneers also finished the season with the most conference wins in school history. 
 
In his first season with the Pioneers, Dodson coached one All-MEC Freshman Team selection in Merel Smets.
