Nick Lopez has had a busy week on Saturday he helped the Pioneer football team defeat the University of Charleston, 35-28 which earned him the MEC Defensive Player of the Week and now he has been named the D2Football.com Defensive Player of the Week.
Offensive Players of the Week: Marty Carter, Running Back, Grand Valley & Nick Pieruccini, Quarterback, Minnesota State
Carter broke the Grand Valley single-game rushing record in a 51-24 win over Northern Michigan. The sophomore running back gained 298 yards on only 20 carries, scoring three times in the win. Carter averaged 14.9 yards per carry.
Pieruccini was equally explosive and efficient in a 45-12 Minnesota State win over St. Cloud State. He threw for 282 yards and four touchdowns on 18-of-21 passing (85.7%). He also added 109 yards on 16 rushes with a touchdown.
Defensive Player of the Week:

Lopez tied the MEC record with three interceptions in a 35-28 win over Charleston. He picked off two passes in the first quarter and his final in the fourth, to help preserve the 35-28 margin.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Matias Lambrecht, Punter, Johnson C. Smith
Lambrecht was a bright spot in a blowout loss to Division I FCS Wofford. The Johnson C. Smith senior punted seven times with a 44.7 yard average. He pinned Wofford inside its own 20-yard-line twice.Â
