Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer volleyball team played a good game on Tuesday evening on the road at Salem International as they took the Tigers to five sets but came up short falling, 3-2.
Glenville State (0-16, 0-7) finished the night with 51 kills on 177 attacks but committed 37 errors while Salem International (6-21) had 52 kills on 177 attacks and just 24 errors.
The Lady Pioneers jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first set but Salem battled back and tied it up at 16-16. However GSC then outscored the Tigers 9 to 6 as they won set one, 25-22.
In the second set it would go back and forth and eventually end up tied at 15-15. After that tie Salem outscored the Lady Pioneers 10 to 7 as the Tigers took set two, 25-22.
Salem then won the third set over Glenville as they took it, 25-23 as they led 2 sets to 1
However the Lady Pioneers bounced back in a big way in the fourth set as they jumped out to a 9-1 lead before going on to win it 25-19 and tie it up at 2 sets apiece.
In the fifth set it would be close until the Tigers scored six straight points as they led the Lady Pioneers 7-2. However GSC then outscored Salem 5 to 1 as they tied it at 8-8. But the Tigers scored the next six points as they went on to defeat Glenville, 15-10 and won the match 3 sets to 2.
Haley Wolff led the Lady Pioneers with 14 kills while Jazaray Clark-Casto finished with 11 and Chase Cooksey chipped in with 10 kills. Allison Parski had 20 assists on the night while Madison Gargus finished with 19 in the game.
Ai Miyazaki had a game high six serve aces while she also finished with a game high 26 digs.
Glenville State (0-16, 0-7) will hit the road this weekend as they travel to Notre Dame College on Friday, October 20th at 7 p.m. and then on Saturday, October 21st will travel to Urbana University for a 12 p.m. game with the Blue Knights.
