Women’s Soccer Wins Second Straight

Glenville, W.Va. – After the GSC women's soccer team picked up their first victory of the season last Friday defeating WVU's club team they went on the road Tuesday and defeated the Tigers of Salem International, 2-1 as they won their second straight game.

Salem International would strike first at the 33:52 minute of the first half as Kelsea Freiling helped the Tigers take a 1-0 lead. However GSC tied it up at the 43:21 minute mark of the first half as Julia Lesko scored off of an assist from Sharifa Sharif.

At halftime the score was tied up at 1-1.

But Julia Lesko wasn't finished as she broke the tie, which was also the winning goal, at the 78:43 minute mark as the Lady Pioneers picked up the 2-1 victory.

Glenville State had two more shots in the game than Salem International at 17 to 15 but both teams finished with nine shots each on goal.

Julia Lesko had a great night as she finished with eight shots with four on goal and two goals while Danielle Bowling, Natalie Castillo, Alysia Maguellal and Brie Webb also had a shot on goal.

Goalie Hannah Beaty finished the night with eight total saves.

Glenville State (2-2-4) returns to action next Tuesday, October 10th as they travel to Lincoln Memorial for a 3 p.m. matchup.
