Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer volleyball team dropped a home contest on Friday night at the Waco Center to the Fairmont State University Fighting Falcons, 3-1 (26-24, 25-16, 25-10, 25-15).
Glenville State (0-24, 0-15) finished with just 35 kills on 130 attacks and committed 25 errors while Fairmont State (20-10, 11-5) racked up 59 kills on 147 attacks and had just 22 errors.
The Lady Pioneers came out hot in the first set and held a 7-2 tie. The Fighting Falcons then went on a 7-2 run as they tied the game up at 9-9. Late in the set FSU held a 20-19 lead but GSC came right back and tied it up at 24-24 before going on to take the first set, 26-24.
The second set went back and forth as the two teams were tied at 10-10. However FSU made a big run as they eventually took set two, 25-16 and tied it up at one set apiece.
The third set was all Fairmont State as they jumped out to a 10-4 lead and went on to take it 25-10 as they led two sets to one.
In the fourth set FSU took an 11-6 lead before going on to take the final set 25-15.
Bailey Brawner and Chase Cooksey each had 10 kills for the Lady Pioneers. Allison Parski led the team in assists with 19 while Ai Miyazaki had a game high 17 digs.
Fairmont State was led by Mackenzie Harrison as she had a game high 23 kills.
Glenville State (0-24, 0-15) will return to action tomorrow Saturday, November 11
th as they host the Rams of Shepherd University at 1 p.m. from the Waco Center on Senior Day.
