Glenville, W.Va. – Glenville State's Paris McLeod scored a game high 25 points as she helped the Lady Pioneers earn their fourth straight victory as they defeated the Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State by 29 points, 99-70.
Glenville State (5-1, 3-0) had 11 of their 12 players score with three of them in double figures led by McLeod's 25 points while Fairmont State (3-3, 0-3) had two players post double figures.
Fairmont State started off hot as they took an eight point lead at the 6:40 minute mark of the first, 11-3. However the Lady Pioneers went on a 12-0 run as they took a 15-11 lead with 2:55 to play in the first quarter.
GSC held a two point lead over FSU after one quarter of action, 21-19.
The Lady Pioneers then went onto to outscore the Fighting Falcons 26-15 in the second quarter and as they took a, 47-34 lead into halftime. Â
Glenville State really made separation in the third quarter outscoring Fairmont State 29-20 and never looked back as they cruised to the 29 point win.
The Lady Pioneers defense forced the Fighting Falcons into 22 turnovers and scored 23 points off of them while GSC also had a big advantage in the paint outscoring FSU 62-36.
Glenville State won the battle on the boards as they out rebounded Fairmont State by 10, 61-51.
The Lady Pioneers shot 30 percent from the floor as they went 38-of-95 while the Fighting Falcons shot 35 percent from the floor and 31 percent from deep. But GSC struggled shooting from deep as they finished just 22 percent as they made just 9-of-their-41 three-pointers.
Paris McLeod scored a game high 28 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists. Courtney Davis posted a double-double as she scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds while freshman Abby Stoller chipped in with nine points.
Fairmont State was led by Sierra Kotchman as she scored a team high 23 points while Kelli Jo Harrison scored 10 points and had 14 rebounds as she posted a double-double.
Glenville State (5-1, 3-0) will hit the road this Saturday, December 2
nd as they travel to Shepherdstown, W.Va. for a 2 p.m. matchup with the Shepherd University Rams.
