Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers scored a season high 133 points as they earned their fifth straight victory and stays unbeaten in conference play as they dominated the Shepherd University Rams on the road Saturday, 133-61.
Glenville State (6-1, 4-0) had a huge offensive explosion in the first half as they outscored the Shepherd Rams (4-4, 1-3) 67-30 in the first and second quarters on their way to a 72 point win.
The Lady Pioneers never trailed in the game and the largest lead of the game was 72 points.
Glenville State had a great day shooting the basketball as they shot 57 percent from the field going 51-of-89 and shot 42 percent from three as they nailed 15-of-35 from deep. Shepherd shot 39 percent from the floor and 33 percent from behind the three-point line.
GSC's defense forced the Rams into 35 turnovers and scored 47 points off of them while the Lady Pioneers gave it away just 13 times. Glenville State also scored 33 second-chance points in the contest while Shepherd scored just two.
The 133 points is the second most scored by GSC under Head Coach
Kim Stephens, the Lady Pioneers scored 138 points last season in a win over West Virginia State.
Glenville State had seven players scored in double figures with Paris McLeod leading the way with a game high 25 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Emily Stoller scored a career high 23 points in the win while Kristin DesRocher went 3-of-6 from deep scoring 17 points.
Also for GSC Courtney Davis scored 13 points while Erica Toney scored 12 points. Bhera Griffin and Julie Bishop both chipped in with 11 points each.
Shepherd was led by Morgan Arden as she scored 22 points.
Glenville State (6-1, 4-0) will return to action this Tuesday, December 5
th when they travel to Concord University for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with the Mountain Lions.
