Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer men's basketball team fell to the Cavaliers of UVa-Wise on Saturday afternoon at the Waco Center 82-65.
Glenville State (0-9, 0-6) had three players score in double figures as they shot 36 percent from the floor while UVa-Wise (5-6, 4-2) had four players in double figures and finished the game shooting 49 percent.
The Cavaliers jumped out to an early 8-0 lead at the 18:10 minute mark. GSC then put together a 20-7 run as they took a five point lead 20-15 with 11:49 till halftime.
UVa-Wise came right back and tied it up at 22 all with 9:24 on the clock. The Cavaliers then made a small run to end the half as they took a 10 point lead at intermission 45-35.
In the second half it was all Cavaliers as they extended their lead to 22 points 64-42, their largest lead of the game, before going on to defeat the Pioneers by 17 points.
GSC turned it over 15 times on the afternoon while UVa-Wise gave it away just eight times. The Cavaliers scored 17 second-chance points while Glenville State scored just six points.
Elisha Mayberry led the Pioneers as he scored 19 points off the bench and grabbed six rebounds. Theo Brown and Darhius Nunn each scored 13 points. Jon Dunmyer and Brooks Ely chipped in with seven each while Ely pulled down a game high nine rebounds.
UVa-Wise was led by Taiwo Badmus as he scored a game high 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Michal Seals scored 17 points and dished out a game high 10 assists as he  recorded a double-double.
Glenville State (0-9, 0-6) will return to action Friday, December 16
th when they make the long trip to Illinois Springfield.
