Pioneers Come Up Short on the Road at West Virginia State

Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer football  team came up short on the road Saturday as they fell to the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets, 34-28.

Glenville State (1-4, 0-4) had a late chance to win the game as they drove down to the Yellow Jacket's 25 yard line but could not convert a fourth and 11 as West Virginia State University (2-3, 2-3) held on to the victory.

West Virginia State found the endzone first at 8:06 minute mark of the first quarter as Matt Kinnick found Quinton Gray for a 27 yard touchdown pass as they took a 7-0 lead. On Glenville State's next possession they would put together a nice 10 play drive but would come up unsuccessful as they turned it over on downs after not converting the fourth down attempt.

GSC's defense, however, then created a turnover as Tristin Freeman intercepted WVSU's Matt Kinnick as the Pioneers took over. Dominique Gibson would then put points on the board for GSC as he scored on a 10 yard touchdown run at the 1:17 minute mark which tied the game up at 7-7 as the game headed into the second quarter.

West Virginia State retook the lead at the 10:28 minute mark of the second as Matt Kinnick  hit Quinton Gray, their second hookup of the day, from eight yards out as they led 14-7.
