Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Pioneers men's basketball team fell to Concord University on Wednesday night by 27 points, 94-67.
Glenville State (3-15, 2-11) shot 36 percent from the field and 29 percent from deep while Concord (10-8, 7-6) shot 48 percent from the field and 40 percent from deep hitting 11-of-27 three-pointers.
Concord would jump out to an early five point lead at the 14:42 minute mark at 11-6. However a layup by
Andrew Johnson, followed by a three pointer, would tie the game up at 11 all with 13:22 on the clock.
The Mountain Lions would make some separation with under 10 minutes to play as they built a nine point lead at the 6:53 minute mark leading GSC 29-20. Concord would end up taking a 13 point lead into halftime 43-30.
In the second half, Concord again came out strong and built an 18 point lead at the 15:05 minute mark, 54-36. The Pioneers then went on a 19-5 run as they cut the Mountain Lions lead to four points, 59-55, with 11:07 to play.
However that's as close as the Pioneers would get as Concord took back control of the game and built a double digit lead which proved to be too much for GSC as they fell 94-67.
The game saw six ties and two lead changes.
Concord won the rebounding battle out rebounding Glenville State by 19 at 53-34. Â The Mountain Lions also outscored the Pioneers in the paint 40-22.
Glenville State's bench scored 17 points in the contest while Concord's scored 28 points.
Darhius Nunn led the Pioneers with 24 points to go with four rebounds and four assists.
Brooks Ely was the only other Pioneer in double figures as he scored 18 points.
JR Kerr scored six points off the bench and grabbed seven rebounds.
Concord had three players in double figures led by Tommy Bolte as he scored a game-high 36 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. BJ Hamlet scored 19 points while Darian Peterson chipped in with 14 points.
Glenville State (3-15, 2-11) will return to the court this Saturday, January 27
th when they travel to UVa-Wise for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off.
