DesRocher’s 24 Points Leads GSC Past Notre Dame

Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer basketball team defeated the Notre Dame Falcons 84-69 on Thursday evening as they claimed their 10th straight victory and their 17th straight home win.

Glenville State (11-1, 7-0) had four players score in double figures with Kristin DesRocher leading the way with a game high 24 points while Notre Dame (9-5, 5-2) had three players post double figures with Kim Cook recording a double –double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Notre Dame jumped out to an early five point lead over GSC at the 7:30 minute mark of the first quarter at 8-3. The Lady Pioneers then went on a 15-4 run to end the first quarter as they held a six point lead 18-12.

In the second quarter Notre Dame came out strong as they went on a 14-6 run and took a three point lead at 27-24 with 2:26 till halftime. Again the Lady Pioneers ended the quarter strong outscoring Notre Dame 14-3 to end the half as GSC took a 38-30 lead into halftime.

Glenville State then outscored Notre Dame in the third quarter 21-15 as they held a 14 point lead after three, 59-45.

Notre Dame cut the Lady Pioneers lead to 10 points twice in the fourth quarter but that's as close as Glenville State would allow them to get as GSC defeated the Falcons by 15 points 84-69.

Glenville State finished the game shooting 41 percent from the floor but shot just 36 percent from deep hitting 7-of-19 three-pointers while Notre Dame finished the game shooting 39 percent from the field and 46 percent from deep.

GSC's defense forced Notre Dame into 23 turnovers and scored 29 points off of them. The Lady Pioneers outscored the Falcons in the paint 50 to 30.

Glenville State was led by Kristin DesRocher as she scored a season high 24 points going 10-of-13 in the game while also pulling down four rebounds. Courtney Davis scored 14 points to go along with six rebounds and three blocks.

Also for GSC Erika Toney scored 12 points and had five rebounds while Tayana Stewart chipped in with 10 points.

Notre Dame was led by Seina Adachi as she scored a team high 15 points while Marisa Finazzo scored 14 points and Kim Cook posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Glenville State (11-1, 7-0) will return to action this Saturday, January 6th when they host Urbana University at 2:00 p.m. from the Waco Center.
