Volleyball Falls on Senior Night to West Virginia State University

Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer volleyball team fell to the West Virginia State University Yellow Jackets on Senior Night in three sets (25-20, 25-14, and 25-14) from inside the Waco Center Friday night.

Glenville State (5-15, 1-11) tallied 29 total kills on 103 attacks while committing 16 errors. West Virginia State (21-10, 6-6) finished with 46 kills on 101 attacks and finished with just nine errors.

The Lady Pioneers fell behind early in the first set to the Yellow Jackets 13-6. GSC battled back and cut the lead to two at 18-16 however WVSU went on to take the set, 25-20.

In set number two both teams would go back and forth but the Yellow Jackets held a 12-8 lead. WVSU then outscored GSC 13-6 as they won the set, 25-14.

In the third and final set, the Lady Pioneers fell behind 8-2 and could not recover as the Yellow Jackets won the set, 25-14.

Glenville State finished with three team blocks while West Virginia State tallied two team blocks.

Skylar Mace led GSC in kills with 10 on the nights while also finishing with 12 digs. Chase Cooksey chipped in with seven kills.

Madison Gargus had a team high 26 assists while Ai Miyazaki had a team high 15 digs.

WVSU's Jenna Dufresne had a team high 10 kills while Gabrielle Bullock finished with nine.

Tabi Pontious had 37 assists to go with eight digs and a service ace.

Glenville State (5-15, 1-11) will return to action on Saturday, October 27th when they host the University of Charleston at 5:30 p.m.
