Glenville, W.Va. – After an hour and fifty-five minute weather delay the Glenville State Lady Pioneer women's soccer team fell at home to the Wheeling Jesuit University Cardinals, 2-0.
Glenville State (0-11, 0-7 MEC) recorded five shots in the contest while Wheeling Jesuit (2-8, 1-5 MEC) finished with 39 total shots in the game.
The Cardinals struck first at the 19:18 minute mark when Allyson Evans scored off of a corner kick as Wheeling Jesuit took a 1-0 lead. GSC would have several chances to tie the game but they all ended up short as the Lady Pioneers trailed at the break, 1-0.
In the second half, WJU added to their lead at the 67:54 minute mark when Kendra Benzel scored off of an assist by Elexis Brown as they held a 2-0 lead.
Glenville State's
Kacey Evans had a chance at the 68:16 mark but her shot would end up being high as the Lady Pioneers fell, 2-0.
Wheeling Jesuit had 11 corner kicks while GSC had none.
Kacey Evans had two shots in the game while
Brie Webb also recorded two shots.
Julia Lesko had the only other shot for GSC.
Goalie,
Morgan Smailes had 15 saves on the night.
Glenville State (0-11, 0-7 MEC) will travel to West Virginia Wesleyan this Sunday, October 7
th for a 12 p.m. matchup with the Bobcats.
