Women’s Soccer Held Scoreless Against Bobcats of WVWC

Buckhannon, W.Va. – The Glenville State women's soccer team went on the road Sunday and was shutout by the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan as they fell, 11-0.

Glenville State (0-12, 0-8 MEC) was held to just one shot on the afternoon while West Virginia Wesleyan (10-1, 8-0 MEC) recorded 62 total shots.

The Bobcats would strike first at the 6:05 minute mark of the first half as they took a 1-0 lead. West Virginia Wesleyan then went on to add five more goals as they took a 6-0 lead over the Lady Pioneers at the break.

In the second half, GSC would record its only shot but Haylie Reynolds attempt was blocked at the 53:12 minute mark. The Bobcats went on to score five second half goals and defeat the Lady Pioneers, 11-0.

WVWC had nine corner kicks while GSC had none.  

Haylie Reynolds had the only shot for GSC while goalie Morgan Smailes had six saves while allowing five goals. Fellow goalkeeper Hannah Beaty finished with 15 saves and gave up six goals.

The Bobcats had 10 different players score in the contest. Natalie Prater had two goals for WVWC.

Glenville State (0-12, 0-8 MEC) will return to action this Wednesday, October 10th when they host the Falcons of Notre Dame College from Morris Stadium at 4 p.m.
