Institute, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer women's basketball team earned their second win of the season defeating Livingstone University, 128-99 on Sunday in the Wyndham Gardens Conference Challenge.
Glenville State (2-0) forced 28 turnovers and drilled 18 three-pointers to earn the win. Livingstone (0-2) hit just eight three-pointers while shooting 45 percent from the floor.
After an early 4-4 tie at the 8:20 mark of the first GSC scored eight straight points as they went up 12-4 and never looked back. The Lady Pioneers went on to take an 11 point lead after one quarter, 37-26.
In the second quarter Glenville State only outscored Livingstone by one, 25-24, as they took a 62-50 lead into the break.
The Lady Pioneers then scored 39 points in the third and 27 in the fourth as they secured the 29 point victory, 128-99.
GSC shot 48 percent from the floor and 36 from deep. The Lady Pioneers scored 40 points off of Livingstone's 28 turnovers. GSC also had 16 second chance points while Livingstone had four.
Glenville State had nine players in double figures with Re'Shawna Stone and
Emily Stoller both scoring 16 points.
Courtney Davis chipped in with 15 points and eight rebounds while
Donasja Scott scored 12 points and also grabbed eight boards.
Zakiyah Winfield,
Silvia Vasquez-Rivera,
Ty Armstrong, and
Taylor Parker also scored 11 each in the win while
Blaize Burgess chipped in with 10 points.
Livingstone was led by Darra Walker as she scored a game-high 23 points.
Glenville State (2-0) will return to action this Wednesday, November 14
th as 5:30 p.m. as they host Ohio Dominican in their home opener.
