Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer basketball team earned their fifth win of the season on Monday, while Head Coach
Kim Stephens earned her 60
th career win, defeating the Wheeling Jesuit University Cardinals by 35 points, 123-88.
Glenville State (5-0, 2-0) netted 23 three-pointers while Wheeling Jesuit (2-3, 1-1) went just 5-of-13 from deep.
After trailing to the Cardinal 2-0, the Lady Pioneers jumped out to a 14-4 lead early in the first quarter and never looked back as they cruised to the victory 35 point win. The Cardinals only lead of the game was at 2-0.
Glenville State's largest lead was 42 points which came in the third quarter at the 1:44 minute mark.
GSC shot 41 percent from the field going 41-of-100 while they shot 38 percent from deep hitting 22-of-57 three-pointers. WJU shot 42 percent in the contest and 38 percent from deep.
The Lady Pioneers defense forced the Cardinals in to 25 turnovers and converted them into 39 points. GSC had 29 assists as a team on the night.
Emily Stoller continued her fabulous play as she scored a team-high 30 points while also pulling down five rebounds.
Ty Armstrong had a great night off the bench as she scored 20 points hitting six three-pointers.
Donasja Scott scored 11 points and had six rebounds while
Courtney Davis and
Taylor Parker each scored 10 in the contest.
Zakiyah Winfield dished out seven assists and scored eight points.
Wheeling Jesuit was led by Chenelle Moore as shed scored a game-high 31 points while pulling down 17 rebounds for a double-double on the evening.
Glenville State (5-0, 2-0) will return to action on Wednesday, November 28
th when they travel to Fairmont State University for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with the Fighting Falcons.
