Elkins, W.Va. – Glenville State had three player score in double figures however it wasn't enough as the Pioneers fell on the road Monday to the Senators of Davis & Elkins College, 80-75.
Glenville State (6-5) shot just 32 percent from the field and just 25 percent from deep going 12-of-48. Davis & Elkins (2-8) shot 47 percent from the floor and 36 percent from deep netting 7-of-19 three-pointers.
The Pioneers trailed for most of the first half until
Kalin Johnson's three-pointer knotted it up at 21 all with 8:48 to play. Glenville State then took their first lead of the contest at the 6:36 minute mark on a
Phil Bledsoe three-pointer,GSC led 24-23.
However D&E ended the half on a 14-6 run as they took an eight point lead into halftime over the Pioneers, 37-29.
In the second half, the Senators managed to add to their lead as they went up by 10, 39-29, their largest of the lead of the afternoon.
But GSC came right back and went on a 20-9 run as they took a one point lead, 49-48 with 13:27 left in the contest. Again the game was closely contested as we ended up tied again at 55 all with under 10:00 left.
However the Senators made another run, outscoring GSC 17-9, as they built an eight point lead with under 2:00 to play. But the Pioneers would not give up as a layup and a three-pointer by GSC which cut the Senators lead to three, 72-69 with 1:52 to play.
 Glenville State's comeback would come up short as D&E would hit 8-out-12 free throws down the stretch and held on to defeat the Pioneers, 80-75.
The Senators won the battle of the boards out-rebounding the Pioneers by seven, 49-42. D&E also had an advantage in the paint outscoring GSC 42 to 22.
Jamal Pollydore paced GSC as he scored a team-high 21 points to go with five rebounds and three assists.
Kalin Johnson scored 14 points off the bench netting four three-pointers.
Davion Johnson chipped in with 12 points and seven boards while
Howard Smith scored 11 points and seven rebounds.
Phil Bledsoe grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds while scoring nine points.
Davis & Elkins was led by Trevor English scoring a game-high 25 points while Edmund Parker posted a double-double for the Senators with 16 point and 12 boards.
Glenville State (6-5) will now be on break and will not return to action until Sunday, January 6
th when they travel to Cheyney University at 4 p.m.
